Kazeem Lawal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and an MBA (Distinction) in Finance & Investment from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), with over 20 years of proven experience in the financial services sector.
His professional background spans Banking, Trusteeship, and Pensions, where he has held key roles including Internal Controller and Head of Internal Audit & Control. Kazeem began his banking career with United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc before joining Intercontinental Bank Plc (now Access Bank). He was later seconded to pioneer and establish the Internal Audit & Control functions in two of the bank’s subsidiaries – Intercontinental Trustees and Blue Intercontinental Microfinance Bank.
In 2012, he resigned from Access Bank Plc to join Biodun Ajayi & Co., a firm of Chartered Accountants specializing in Financial Management, Auditing & Assurance, and Tax Management services, where he served as an Associate Partner. He transitioned to the Pension Industry in 2015, bringing his wealth of experience to the sector.
Before joining FCMB Pensions, Kazeem served as Head of Internal Audit & Control at AIICO Pension Managers Limited and later at Access Pension Custodian Limited.
His early career (1997–2000) included roles with Prudential Group, an IT consulting and training firm, and SAS Properties, a property development company.
Kazeem has attended numerous professional and leadership development programs, including the Leadership Training Program at the prestigious Lagos Business School (LBS).
